8th March: International Women's Day

International Women's Day  is a global event celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women past and present.  It is held annually on 8th March and it is also known as the United Nations (UN) Day for Women's Rights and International Peace.

Parenting for Professionals was thrilled to be asked by Barclays to come along to their London event and host a 'powershot' session on the success of their maternity coaching programme to date.

There was a huge turnout for the event with over 2300 people taking part globally.

During our session we outlined the business case for maternity coaching and gave an indication of how women feel at each stage of the maternity cycle and how they can be best supported.  We also talked about the potential impact this support can have on the bottom line.

We were also pleased to announce the launch of the Managing Maternity workshops for line managers due to be rolled out this year.

The diversity and energy of the speakers during the day and the people we met were truly inspiring and reminded us about how much progress has been made in the success and recognition of women in business.  One of the key messages we took away was that confidence and risk-taking are like muscles – the more you use them the better they work.

We look forward to putting it all into practice now!
